The golden Land of the Triforce has become a Sark World corrupted by Gaon's evil wishes. However, this is not enough for ganon; he also wants to make Hyrule, the Light World, his own. To do this, he needs to break the Seal Of The Seven Wise Men.
But he cannot do this with his power alone. He must also use the life force of the descendants of the Seven Wise Men. With Agahnim the wizard as his pawn, this is about to become a reality (thus the late night experiments in the castle tower...).
The story is simple but involves atleast eight hours of gameplay to beat it. (That's my record so far) It is the basic "save the world" scenario. It is partially sequential but don't let that fool you. The story is not fed to the player. The player has to talk to people to learn things. Certain things are guarded by doors and the such that require the player to have completed a certain dungeon to get the artifact that would enable them to open it. Other than that the player can do whatever they want. (I always beat dungeon 4, blind the thief, before dungeon 3, mothra)
Graphics :
The graphics are large and colorful. They are very
pleasing to the eyes. Characters are large and Link (the main character)
changes as you upgrade his equipment. The three magical spells that are
full screen are simple but well done. The worlds are full of depth and
the dungeons have great architecture. Some may be turned off by the cartoony
apearance but I think it enhances it. Cartooney implies fantasy.

Music and Sounds:
Music and sound effects are great. The orchestarted musical score fits the areas and does not seem repeditive. It is just in the background and adds to the atmosphere. The sound effects all add to the depth of this game. When things fall of a cliff a sound is played. Monsters make sounds as does the player. The musical score is not as varied as Final Fantasy but it is pleasing and appropriate.
Theme and Fun:
This game has the best replay ability
that I know of. I have beaten this game so many times just because I love
to play it. I bought this game a year after it came out and I still play
it occasioanly now. One thing I like about this game so much is that it
is not a hackenslash or 1001 monster killer. The players health is increased
by finding artifacts in the same manner as new weapons. It is simple and
requires thought, not reflexes and fighting skills. Zelda is definitley
a hall-of-famer for gameplay.
