As the Avatar, you ventured forth from the sunlit shores of Britannia to enter a Moongate only to discover yourself in the exotic and unbeknownst land of the Gargoyles. After nearly being sacrificed on a Gargish altar, you are rescued with the help of your friends, Iolo, Shamino and Dupre. You discover that Lord British's liberation from prison caused a mass destruction of the underworld and opened up the world to the evil Gargoyles who have taken over the eight shrines.

Story:
This game is the final game in the Virtue Triology. Ultima 4, 5 and 6 were special game, where there is no one great menace. Utima 6 takes of exatly where Ultima 5 left, the liberation of Lord British. Not wanting to spoil the game for you, I can tell you that all is not as it seems in Ultima 6.
Graphics :
This a suffered a revolution in game graphics. For the first time, you are place in a 3 quarter view of a totally 3D envirronement. You can interact with every object you see. You can pick up, use, break every thing you see, from the piece of paper on a desk to a piece of fish on a table. It's also the first Ultima to use 256 colors, a nice touch that clears up every thing. Finaly, the introduction is a nice fullscreen animation, setting the mood for this adventure.

Music and Sounds:
For the first time, Ultima is Sound Blaster compatible, which is a nice. Music, battle sound effects, it's all here. Even if it's not orchestrated music, it does a good job of setting the mood.
Theme and Fun:
This game was a revolution in the Ultima series with sound card support and a 3 quarter view that was used in many of other Ultima games. The big flaw that I see it the combat sequence. It's painfully hard to fight foes if you don't perfectly understand the interface. Like Nintendo Power said, it's sad the the interface makes playing this great game a chore. Fortunatly, the PC interface (the mouse) make the game easier to play.
