Good and evil battle for a young warrior's heart. There is one force in the universe that keeps good and evil in perfect balance. It is called the tree of Mana. But a magic sword has tricked a young warrior into upsetting this balance, spreading evil throughout the land. Thus a warrior must undertake a dangerous journey to find the seeds of the Mana Tree which has been hidden for centuries. Only then can perfect harmony be restore .In this incredible adventure, things are not as they seem. Magic swords release evil as well as fight it. Treasure chests hold booty traps. Monsters are friends and friends are enemies. Potions gives you power, black magic takes it away. Dragons fly, weapons change. It's a world turned upside down that you must help the warrior make right. And the only way to succeed is to solve the Secret of Mana.

Story:

The magical sword of Mana is known under many names. But, at first, it's only a rusty sword. You have to find your allies and power up the sword. It's your only chance to defeat a strange new leader of a strange new cult who is kidnapping different people.

Music and Sounds: 

The music in this game is joyful and fun. At least, until the monsters start attacking. Then the music becomes up beat and rocking. It's very different from most Squaresoft games.

Theme and Fun: 

What could be more fun than playing your favorite adventure-type game? How about playing it with three other people?. Only in Secret of Mana can you plug in a multi-tap and play along with two of your friend. If you don't have friends, don't worry. The game has a built in artificial intelligence. Other than that, it's your basic adventure with nine different weapons and over twenty different spells.
